ok i get straight to it.. im needing alot of power so i have a second battery and 20 farad caps now i need a bigger alternator. ive got a 120 amp but it has a different fitment. can i just change the bracket on the engine to fit the alternator or wont that double foot bracket fit my red top.
assistance needed calling all help pleeeeaaassseee..

ive fitted it now. had to change brackets and bolts and modify the top adjuster bracket to reach the new alternator. but its on and working fine. so if anyone needs any info on upgrading to a bigger one let me know..

Vectra and Omega 2.0 with AC use 120A bosch alternators, that are straight swap for Ecotec Astras, and the wide belt XEs.

If you want to do some fiddling, 2.6 and 3.2 Omega and Vectra use a 140A bosch.

yes i had to change the bottom bracket and use different bolts and extend and weld the top adjuster bracket as well as change over the alternator pulley to make it fit my tooth belt. but hes on and singin well.

Any alterative alternator choice for us diesel drivers?
Need to keep the vac pump on the back of the alt or it'll be a short lived experiement :)

I thought about added a second one on a custom bracket, but if there is a bigger diesel one? Fontera perhaps ?
What's the biggest Vauxhall diesel engine, and fitted to what?

Yeah, I briefly looked for alternative Vac pumps as I have several Honda alts spare. Gues what I'd fit in parallel...
Just seemed faster to get me back on the road fixing the stock one.

I need the current. I run it on veg oil based fuel and have a few electrical heaters for the winter which tax the alt quite a lot for the first few mins of winter driving.
TBH having a seconary alt might be useful as you could turn it off when the current isn't needed and it'll reduce the engine power required & help for starting.

I run an oversize 74 Ah Vaux battery.
