Hey everyone, I have a really odd problem, which is that I can't pick up any radio stations.

My headunit is a Pioneer and I know it can pick up stations as its been in 4previous cars. I have just found a new ariel (sits on the rear 3quarter) in the scrapyard today to replace my broken one. I thought this would solve the problem, but my boyfriend says it has made no difference. Is there any other connections he should check that could be causing the problem?

thanks everyone

Grace xx

Was it working before you changed the ariel?

Check the ariel plug at the rear of the head unit as they have a tendency to come out.

If it's not that, then double check all the connections to the new ariel.

the connecter on the back of the radio is on fine, and so is the connecter at the base of the ariel. it used to work once before the old ariel snapped. how many ariel connections are there behind the dash, just incase one of them could be loose or broken etc??

Think there is a conection behind the left kick panel or glove box.

Did you know that you have an ariel amplifier ??
Just out of curiosity .. do you have the triple info display with date time and Temp in it ?? When you turn your radio does the middle display go out, and did you cut the red/grey wire to stop it doing this ?
I know it's a long shot, but cutting this wire can casue loss of reception too :)

Dave here, I plan to do that tomorrow, I can't wait haha! I re-soldered the red/grey wire and also followed it through the ISO block to where it connects on the radio side, and found I hadn't connected a blue/white wire, reconnected that, and now when i set the heatunit to radio mode, the date vanishes from the MFD :) half the problem solved I hope :)

Took a few pics to explain to Grace what I had to do, etc, she nearly had heart failure when she saw the next 2 pics haha, all she could say was "do you know what your doing?" do women ever have faith in us men??

Can anybody tell me what the black/white wire runs to on the car side of the ISO block??

its neither speaker nor earth. Earth is always brown and the speaker wires are plugged into the middle part of the X69 plug.
Can you tell me what Pin number that is, or take a new püic from a bit further away.

did you kno all you have to do to get the info display up with out cutting the red/grey cable is just up split the remote cable, most iso connectors have this wire connected together with a spade terminal which then allows you to connect a seperate remote cable to the sub

To get the info on the display, you must cut the red/grey wire.

Dont quite follow you on the bit about spade terminaly and wires for remotes to Sub ??
