Anytime hah, Certainly be using it in the summer with the mk3.

Got some photos today of the paint work, asked them to do the bits that have been welded, as well as repair the rear passenger door which was dented, was kindly offered a door by Gareth but it was rotten  they seem to have gotten the worst out and looks loads better from the pictures. Hopefully pick it up next week, and I can fiddle with some things ive been wanting to do for a while, but hadn't the motivation with it not being here.

Yeah every photo contains gps data , knows where I’ve been etc

Ah know i meant like when your drone will automatically follow your car?

Car back from the body shop today, Looks a lot better, New paint on the front bumper, some bits of overspray here and there, but I can sort that, I've cleaned it and cleaned the crud off of it from the drive home, will sorn it until next year now.

Oh and I Need to attach the trim, as much as I like it without, it would cause a lot of work to remove them all.
IMG_0858.JPG

Also tried my new Headlamps in the garage the other evening, Beam pattern is so crisp.... Think the camera has over-exaggerated the yellow on the top of the beam
IMG_0815.jpg

Will get them on the car and check everything works as it should level and aim etc...

IMG_0814.jpg

Oh and the glass could do with a clean too....

Any updates Clegg :/

you managed to get the lights fitted yet clegg?
So bit of an update on that, I ordered one from Hayden on Facebook, decent light etc but it was a valeio one not the morello and the glass when heated up was just cracking and shards everywhere, so I binned it in the end, I’ve ordered a one like the others which also have the clips on, I suspect the Valeo ones are a 3rd party one and the glue doesn’t seem to melt at heat gun temperatures unlike the others.

Had this on my todo list for a while, IMG_4614.jpg

The leather\plastic around the gear stick has been perished and aged since I bought it, over the winter scored a £3 deal on eBay for a new one, fairly easy to install I found after removing the shaft and knob.

IMG_4646.jpg
above is the after shot, with it all back together, I know I didn’t need to take the centre but out, but that leads onto the next thing, I got a used single din touch screen and needed to connect to the handbrake bur was going to mount a surface Mount usb and aux socket as there is no front usb sockets.
IMG_4622.jpg

IMG_4611.jpg
socket is quite deep and couldnt see anywhere suitable to Mount it, so ended up fitting it in the glovebox, which then meant I didn’t need to run any extension cables as the cables supplied are about 0.8m.

IMG_4630.jpg
Marked up, started with the drill and then using a small bit on low speed used the jigsaw to cut it out.
IMG_4634.jpg
the top and bottom has grooves so it can’t be mounted the wrong way, so made sure I cut those out, nice snug fit, when it’s in and just touches the plastic air pipe for the footwell, bit close but still fits nice. And keeps it out the way as well, the phone can get quite warm when using the airplay so did think the cooled glove box could help with that…

the finished result.

Massive fan of Apple car play, so wanted something I could car play with for the mk3, picked this up on eBay, but doesn’t have the cage, I managed to contact pioneer and they have put me in touch with a supplier and I’ve got a cage coming from Japan in the next few weeks. Hated the menus on the alpine even tho it was an excellent stereo, so that will be up for sale when I get everything sorted with the pioneer.

what’s there now….IMG_3840.jpg

vs the trial fit.

List of things I want to get done in the coming weeks:

trim needs re-sticking after it was removed in the body shop
finish and fit the BI-xenon’s
rear Caliper Conversion (got most the bits now)
x16xe lower inlet then eventually fit the power box

I’m gonna get some stick for this…. But the stainless steel back box is too loud, and boomy for me, so ordered a standard back box off of eBay and provided my reg etc…. To receive this… I’m not cut out for the loud exhaust club :frusty:IMG_4580.jpg

Gave her a much needed clean this evening, got some of the little stone chips on the drivers doors touched up as well, will need a good final polish. Bit of snow foam action….IMG_4687.jpeg

Door trim has been missing since body work so cleaned up both sides and applied some number plate double sided tape.
IMG_4688.jpeg

Finished!

Nice bit of work cleggy. Looking forward to Looking around this at vboa

Big-ish update...

finally gathered up the courage and time to swap the lower inlet so I could fit the mantzel style powerbox, I'll be the first to admit this was and is one of the biggest jobs ive done yet...

IMG_5231.jpeg

started on the Sunday, and got the majority of it off, with a lot of coolant leaks, I really should have drained the coolant before I started, I do at least know that if I have to take it off for any reason I will definitely be removing all the coolant first.

The rear bolts were the worst, so tight getting in with anything, really could have done with some ratchet spanners.... now I'll admit it was a mighty bodge, but I may have used a crowbar to gently move the pulley to remove belt as the pulley is a bitch to reach.
IMG_5245.jpeg

I spent most of the time trying to remove the throttle body which was still attached to the lower inlet, but figured it was going to be best to remove the whole thing as one.

and after a day or two of work here and there I could finally fit the new gasket and get it built back up.
IMG_5313.jpeg

invested in some "cheap" ratchet spanners to help with the tricky bits.
IMG_5299.jpeg

throttle body blanking plate on and bolts tightened....

IMG_5318.jpeg

changed the seals on the injectors whilst they where out... I didn't bother with the filters for now, as don't have the tool and the spares I had I count find a safe and in-destructive method of removing them....
IMG_5321.jpeg

old vs new

IMG_5320.jpeg

came to a few hurdles including screws that where now too long...
